How do i change the oil and filter on a 6.6l duramax chevy silverado?

are there any special precautions or methods i should know since its a diesel motor? or can i just do it as if i was changing the oil on a gas engine?How do i change the oil and filter on a 6.6l duramax chevy silverado?
Your oil change should be the same as with any other truck engine. The only difference will be that it will take a larger amount of oil. A few pointers though, the drain plug is set in such a way that there is a little pressure behind the oil when you first remove the plug. It will shoot out about 18'; when first opened but only for a split second. The filter sits at a steep angle, so don't try and pre fill. I found that in removal it helps to use a chisel and pop a hole in the old filter before removal. This seems to cut down on the big mess. Of course be sure you lube the gasket and don't over fill. same as a gas motor while your under ther dont forget the spin on trans filter if you have an allison
