How do I remove an oil filter?

On a 96 Mustang. Tried twisting it, using the oil filter wrench, no success, tried screw driver. Any other options? It's been about 2 hoursHow do I remove an oil filter?
You gotta get way down on the bottom, nearest the engine. That part is much stiffer than the rest. One with a solid metal band like this one, or one without the handle that you can attach a ratchet to.

Normally I would have a cap filter socket on the smaller filters. Either that or get a set of large adjustable jaw pliers that would bite down on the filter. I am not insulting your intelligence but another thing I normally would do, is remind myself ';rightie tightie, leftie loosie';. In other words, to loosen it, turn the filter counterclockwise. To tighten it turn it clockwise. I also would suggest to keep from worrying about this in the future using a Fram Oil filter. Nowadays these things actually come with a grip on the bottom end to help loosen it and its come in handy. Plus the craftmanship/ quality on this is similar to a Motorcraft oil filter (which Ford products have when they come out of the factory).
It really just screws off so somebody over tightened it. Just keep trying. If you crush it a little. it won't hurt anything since you are throwing it away. When you put the new one on just get it as tight as you can by hand and I juve mine another 1/4 turn by the wrench.
It WILL come loose if you are turning it the right way. Use more power. Someone (you?) put it on too tight.

Put some oil on the rubber seal and screw the new one on hand tight.
the screwdriver will twist it off, never seen a filter I couldn't get off with the screwdriver trick.
TRY THE BIG CLAW KIND....DONT KEEP USEING A SCREW DRIVER YOU WILL SHREED IT TO PIECES
