I own a shop, and this is what I would do. Go to a parts store, and pull a new filter for your vehicle. Use it to go by, and look at the many different oil filter wrenches they have. Find one that best fits your filter, and also take into consideration the space you have to work with around your filter in the vehicle, as some are very limited, and may require a special tool.

a filter wrench and you can get it at any parts house like autozone. A tip though.. if you have enough room and just wanna take the damn thing off and you already got another just use a hammer to drive a screwdriver through it til the handle hits the caseing of the filter close to the bottom then just turn the screwdriver counter clockwise. works great.
It's called an ';oil filter wrench'; there are actually 2 different kinds of oil filter wrenches. One is made to fit your oil filter size and the other is made to tighten on many different sizes. Check at your local napa store or auto parts store

an oil filter wrench,any parts store sells them or even wal-mart has those,they are very cheap to buy ,but most of the time they should turn off with you hand if they haven't been over tightened,good luck.
there is a tool that is black round and it connects to a socket ranch but find the one for your filter size you can buy it in discount auto parts its about $6.00 it really works
definately an oil filter wrench! and obviously i agree with mechanic: pull a new filter to make sure the wrench is big enough to go around the filter. plus oil changes go much faster with them for future.
