odyle rules!!!How do you get an Oil Filter Cap off of a 97' Honda CBR?
I suppose you mean the ';Oil Filter'; it self? Has not ridden mine in some time, but the Oil Filter canister screws off counter clockwise. You could buy the special tool from Honda, but I and now my son use a small chain wrench. They sell small belt wrenches also, but the chain wrench has a vise-grip so it grabs quite tight.
Of course in the manual says to rub some oil on the gasket and install snug by hand and then another half a turn, so it sounds like it should be easy to get off. Same is true with cars these days, however most of the time the oil filter is stubborn and needs a good umph to get it started spinning off.
Good luck, I know every time I change the oil and filter I put it just hand tight but somehow do not trust myself and give it that little extra tightening just to make sure it does not leak, only to cuss myself next oil change.
Very carefully, I would imagine.
Hammer a screwdriver through the filter and use the handle to twist the filter off counter clockwise.
If youre not planning on using it (the filter) again, grab a phillips head screwdriver, and a hammer. Punch the driver through the can/filter with the hammer, then turn counterclockwise. Should come off easily. PS%26gt; Use a rag on the floor - you will leak oil when you go thru the filter!
