We just change my oil & filter on my 2006 Mazda 6 and now there is a knocking sound under the hood.?

What could the noise be? My dad mentioned maybe a lifter is sticking??? The car only has 48,000 miles on it.We just change my oil %26amp; filter on my 2006 Mazda 6 and now there is a knocking sound under the hood.?

when changing oil the filter needs to be filled with oil before putting it back in place otherwise at start up the engine will be starved for oil and damage can take place. it does'nt take much when the engine has some mileage on it.
Better get to a dealer or a good shop--knocks are usually not good--and 10 minutes of it can mean disasterous damage if you didn't put oil in the motor or not enough. .....good luck
Did you check your oil level?

the person who put the oil in probably didnt level it off right and put the wrong grade oil in
Quite interesting, after changing the oil and filter there is a knocking noise from underneath the hood.





Steady knocking, constant, I bet if you let the car run for a bit longer and check the oil level, it will go away.





I bet the oil just have to travel, let it run for about 5 min to 7 minutes, it will go away.





Also what weight did you use?? 5w, 10w??
