New vehicle comes with an owners manual, read it.How many miles should i go before changing my oil and filter on my 2007 duramax diesel silverado?
It depends on how you drive the truck. If you drive like a grandmother, you can often go with a much longer interval than if you towed heavy daily, or had a very heavy foot. Make sure to use the regular stuff for at least 30k then you can begin the switch to synthetics such as amsoil. The premium for Amsoil is a bit more than regular oil, but it offers much better lubrication of parts and long drain intervals. In the end you come out ahead.

Check out a forum and you can get advice from hundreds of other Duramax owners who can help you with ANY questions and issues you have with your rig!
Your vehicle should be equipped with an oil life indicator and depending on how you drive, the temperature, etc., will likely take you 7500 miles or more.

However, if it's your FIRST oil change, you may want to do what we did: we chose to do ours early at 5000 miles.
They require special diesel lubricants. GM products have sensors that tell you when an oil change is required. Duramax diesels have a ten quart sump which allows for longer intervals between oil changes.
What does your service book say
I know you asked about non-synthetics, but why wouldn't you want the best protection you can afford? That diesel engine option cost you a little money, why not protect it with the best?: http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=14鈥?/a>
